Change of Character (CHoCH) occurs when a candle closes below a previous swing low during an uptrend or closes above a previous swing high during a downtrend. This signals a potential reversal or shift in market structure.

Break of Structure (BOS), on the other hand, confirms trend continuation. It occurs when price simply breaks above a previous swing high in an uptrend or breaks below a previous swing low in a downtrend. A candle close is not required—only a break of the level is needed to trigger a BOS.
